On the south end of Main Street in downtown Buchanan, The Witt Stop Restaurant & Store will make you pump your brakes. Although the store is relatively new (since the fall of 2018), the business feels like a longstanding piece of the town.
The Witt Stop Restaurant has a full breakfast and lunch menu available daily, with a dinner menu available on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5pm to 8pm. A gluten-free menu is also available. Co-owner Spring Witt has always been up-front and honest about not being a diet helper.
Spring and her kitchen staff make a wide variety of desserts to include Spring’s famous homemade cheesecakes, muffins, specialty cakes and pies. If you need a little pick-me-up to start the day, they serve fresh coffee, lattes, cappuccinos and espresso. They proudly brew Black Riffle coffee.
The Witt Stop store offers on and off premises beer and wine, boasting a wide variety of Virginia labels. They also have a nice selection of grab and go items for customers who are in a hurry. To meet the demand of the local livestock owners, The Witt Stop store continues to sell feed for your barnyard babies.
The Witt Stop Restaurant and Store has been described as “country meets the city”. It is both youthful and inviting, with rustic and industrial style décor, which reflects the towns’ local charm. With its fresh and simple interior, a variety of visitors feel comfortable and are welcomed as long-time friends.
“It’s a lot of different things under one roof,” explains Spring Witt. “That was kind of the point,” she laughs.
Since opening the doors, the Witts have been dedicated to meet the needs of their customers. “This has led us to shift our business model a few times, but it has been well worth it.” exclaimed co-owner Chris Witt.
The Witt Stop General Store has now shifted to The Witt Stop Restaurant & Store to better meet the needs of their customers.
